This thread is a discussion of the team computer that is build in completion. Post components you think necessary,
Keep in mind:
1.The Budget! (I think it is less than or equal to $2000) DO NOT FORGET IN STATE TAX!
2.The Purpose! (This is a workstation machine so it will have higher specifications then a client machine)
3.The Requirements!
This machine is not going to be some high end gaming machine, Just something to use for the team for Computer Aided Design, Programming and such, and maybe the occasional video editing.

Whatever purpose you have(maybe a tribute of Jon Iler's legacy or something) for this machine, and meet the specifications, This should be great addition to the team.
Now to cut the chit-chat and hear from myself.

PSU: maybe 400-450 watts
RAM: how does four GB sound, maybe 16?, who knows
HDD:I was thinking investing in a small SSD for JUST the os, and another sata sail for the rest(everything that is not the os)
NICs:Fast Ethernet card, mabe even a Gigabit card
MOBO:will be discussed when requirements of machine are laid out.
Graphics card:Maybe a dual sli? Should maybe ask Gonzo.
Processor:maybe Intel's tender core i7, maybe something else too, we will just have to see....
CASE:does not have to be anything fancy, just a standard workstation box that does its job is fine. Probably should not spend over $20 on.

Once we get all this stuff we can discuss the os:
MacApple: Costly,a reputation to be easy with graphics and cad design
Linux:free, challenging at first but very rewarding in the long run, what more can I say?
windows: Moderately costly, overall compatible with today's computing standards with a bout %80 market share
Amiga:must we even go there?

Wow Baggy, this is exactly what we're learning in A+ Comp. Science. I think the os should either be linux or MacOs. I'm not that technacly savy with the other components of the computer, but I'd be glad to help (or try to) with this project.

Well it also depends on what kind of case the computer is, if it is a AT case, it probably isn't going to be that usefully because all the AT computer parts are from before the 2000's. I doubt we want to build a computer like that. If its a ATX case, then we can work with that. But I doubt Keith would give us a case we couldn't use.

I didn't pay much attention to it. We should talk about it at tonites meeting, since we have nothing of major importance to work on.

So, what are we doing with the computer on the back counter??? Or is that just a random computer someone brought in...

Keith brought it in, it had a ton of this one chicks personal stuff. But being the good person he is, he didn't steal her identity but the computer is now destroyed.
